A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to jail on allegations of bringing a bomb to his high school.
The incident happened in St. Helens, Oregon. On Friday, the student from St. Helens High School which is near Portland has shown the homemade bomb to his friends. Some of his friends who were terrified had informed the school authorities who have then informed the police officials.
The police took quick action and the school was evacuated quickly.
ABC News reports that a friend of the boy who brought the bomb, Kenny Collord has expressed shock at his behavior. “I was shocked. Who would bring that to school?” he said.
Kenny Collord also said it doesn’t seem that the boy was having any intention of scaring the students or anyone.
Collord said, “I guess his intention wasn’t to scare the school. He just brought it.”
The bomb squad has reached the school soon after police officials has informed them and the students were moved to a local elementary school.
The police has found the homemade bomb in the student’s school locker. The police officials said that the student hasn’t threaten anyone using the homemade bomb he brought. However the officials has also said that they will continue their investigation to find out any possible motive.
The unnamed teenage student is scheduled to be presented in front of the judge on Monday.
