This year, the IRS is going to delay the whole tax return operations as they are dealing with anti-fraud measures first. However, in the meantime, everyone is encouraged to turn to free income tax programs. These are groups of volunteers that help Americans go through their numbers more smoothly. Moreover, they can guide people to take advantage of the programs they are entitled to. However, only families that earned up to $54,000 last year can benefit from this pro bono act from the Carroll County sites.
The director of workforce development, Jenny Graybill, informed the citizens that Human Service Programs of Carroll County is offering its expertise regarding the income tax filing. The program is called the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA. The director described these services as a basic way to process tax returns. On the other hand, no corporate organization can find help here, but only in paid programs. The aim of VITA is to support the working families who earn a modest income. Thanks to this program, the eligible citizens will be able to receive all of their rightful tax returns.
Kate Demarest and Kerry Duvall are in charge of the McDaniel and Carroll Community. They are both accounting professors, and they want to offer their clients more benefits as compensation for their hard work. Both of them intend to help others keep their homes, have funds for all their bills, and continue to work without worries of their presentfinancial state.
The VITA program has just gone through a beneficial merger in 2016. Before this, both Kerry Duvall and Kate Demarest conducted their own projects for several years. However, as they were aiming at the same goal, the two colleges united their efforts for a better service. They use volunteers selected among their own accounting students to work pro bono.
The IRS announced that they would first of all start managing the new wave of identity theft. These are malicious people who provide the information of other families and claim the tax returns from the government for extra funds. This is why the VITA program predicts that their clients will receive their rightful funds somewhere by the end of February.
