According to Courant, the car was found by U.S. Secret Service in Hamden.
A Connecticut police official said they were working with U.S. Secret Service in the search operation. The car they were searching for was 2014 Volkswagen Jetta.
A statement issued by the U.S. Secret Service has confirmed the reports. The official said the agency was searching for “a potentially suspicious person and vehicle.”
The official said, “Information has been received by law enforcement regarding a potentially suspicious person and vehicle. We are working with our local law enforcement partners to determine the validity of the information provided.”
NBC News reports that the man who was driving the car was carrying a assault rifle. There are also unconfirmed reports that the suspect has been taken into custody.
However the Secret Service didn’t revealed whether they managed to track down the car.
President Obama was in New Port, Rhode Island yesterday night to attend a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fund raising event.
There are also reports that the Volkswagen Jetta was actually near the place where the fund-raising event was being taking place.
UPDATE: NBC Connecticut confirms that the suspect is under Secret Service custody and further investigation is being done related to the possible threat for President Obama.
