There were reports of vehicles getting stalled suddenly, while they were moving due to this fuel pump defect.
Today, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that 151,389 Tiguan sport-utility vehicles which were purchased from July 2007 to June this year have been notified about this recall.
They said they are receiving complaints that the fuel system is developing some bubbles if winterized gasoline is used. However, no injuries or any kind of accidents were reported because of this defect.
Jennifer Timian, the chief officer of the recall management division wrote a letter. Mr. Timian wrote, ”In certain conditions bubbles may form in the fuel system which could result in the vehicle stalling.”
Recently, Volkswagen has recalled more than 18000 Routan minivans due to some ignition problem. The ignition issue caused shutting down of the vehicle, while on run. This also prevented the airbags from opening. The company has already mentioned that neither the ignition problems reported earlier have led to any accident or injuries.
It has been also stated that the recall of Volkswagen Tiguan sport-utility vehicles will commence from August 19.
