Ferrari F60 America is going to celebrate the brand’s US birthday. It is the 60th year of Ferrari business in America and to mark this occasion Ferrari has released Limited edition open-top F12 and they have already been a sellout.
Fittingly, Ferrari has named F60 America, the striking open-top version of the Ferrari F12 to commemorate 60 years of selling cars in the US. The commemorative cars are limited to just 10 and will be offered to American collectors. The stiff price tag of $2.5m (£1.5m) did not dampen the buyers and the cars have already sold out.
The F60 is not a F12 Berlinetta minus its roof and pillars. The F60 has been re engineered tastefully and purposefully. The front and rear aprons has been borrowed from the heavily aero-focused F12, the front grille much akin to the California T’s, and the rear diffuser sprouting new central vanes. Also included are new side vents, diamond-cut wheels, and a new bonnet which no longer forces airflow down through an aperture in the car’s front wings.
The wild looks have been given to make the driver feel that he is atop a beast hinting about the F60’s racing heritage. The upholstery lifted from the 1960’s North American Racing Team Ferraris. The two seat cockpit is made with Carbon Composites and the chairs feature the American flag logos.
The America is powered by the standard F12’s 6.3-litre V12 and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which doles out 730bhp to the rear wheels. Speed and acceleration remains the buzzword with 0 to 62mph in 3.1 seconds.
The fabric roof of America must be erected manually and can be blown off above 75mph. The F60 America will be unveiled in Beverley Hills on 11 October 2014.
