Google, the search engine giant has announced a new change to its search engine algorithm. From here onwards, the websites which are encrypted will rank higher, compared to the website’s which are not encrypted.
The Mountain View giant keeps announcing new algorithm updates almost every quarter of the year. Until now, it has been understood that the basic mechanism to rank for a particular key phrase in Google.com is by quality content. It is also said that back links from related sites play an important role in influencing the website ranking.
However, nobody knows the exact formula or the algorithm.
Website’s which automatically encrypted will now notice a huge boost in the search engine. Until now, this encryption was not a major factor in Google’s ranking system. But from here onwards, besides scanning the website page, for the content quality and back links, the Google search engine bot will also look into encryption factor.
The encryption factor move has been taken by Google, mainly because of the recent spike in the hacking activities. Most of the reputable websites on the internet is already using an encrypted script for their user login credentials. However, there are sites which use unencrypted scripts which are vulnerable to easy spying. For easy understanding, an encrypted website URL begins with https, instead of just http.
Hence the Google encrypted move is definitely going to contribute to the online security measures.
