Jeremy Meeks, the California hot felon, whose mugshot became viral on the internet users, admiring his blue eyes and perfectly chiseled model face, has been sentenced to over two years in prison under the charge of possession of a gun.
Thirty years old, Jeremy Meeks was arrested in June, in Stockton, California, in a gang crackdown. In November, he pleaded guilty on the count of being a felon possessing a firearm, stated a spokesman of the U.S. Attorney, Mary Wenger.
Thursday, Troy Nunley, the U.S. District Judge from Sacrament, sentenced Meeks to 27 months in prison, and ordered his participation in a substance abuse program while staying in prison, added Wenger.
Jeremy Meeks created an internet frenzy after the police from Stockton, revealed his mugshot on the police department’s Facebook page. The photo gathered thousands of likes, for his perfectly shaped face bone structure, trace of stubble and his clear blue eyes with a tattoo of a tear drop under his left eye. On Twitter, the picture was trending as the the hot felon.
Joe Silva, a police officer representative, stated that Meeks’s photograph has become the most liked picture the Stockton police has ever posted on their Facebook page, since they have opened it in March 2012, but that wasn’t a good thing. He wanted to remind people the reasons why he got arrested and that he was still a felon holding a weapon and during the Operation Ceasefire mission, he had been identified as being part of a very violent street group.
Last summer, the family of Meeks decided to hire Gina Rodriguez, an ex porn star which turned into a talent manager, to help him seek a possible modelling career or reality show deals, stated CNN at that period. But it was not known if her her collaboration with him lasted. Rodriguez hasn’t responded immediately to comments. Other clients represented by Rodriquez, were teen mom Farrah Abraham, the so called ex mistress of Donald Sterling, V. Stiviano and the mother of eight, Nadya Suleman.
While being interviewed in jail, last year, by a television station from Sacramento, Meeks admitted that he used to be a gang member but he no longer was. He said that he wasn’t aware of the popularity his photo was living on the internet, until a reporter informed him on it. He added, that he was feeling very appreciative about it but he wanted people to know that, that didn’t represent him.
