As expected by many, Apple breaks its own record of highest number of iPhone pre-orders. After the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Apple has announced that it will start taking pre-orders from September 12. And no surprise, it is sold out.
Apple has received a record 4 million iPhone orders which includes both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in less than 24 hours of going online for sale.
Apple has released a press release in which it states that they have received more orders than initial pre-order supply. Some lucky customers may receive their pre-ordered iPhone 6 on Friday, while many have to wait till we reach October to get their hands on the new iPhone 6.
Even those who camp in front of Apple stores to buy the new iPhone directly from store on Friday are not guaranteed to get their hands on the best smartphone’s from Apple. This is because the supplies in the stores may also cross the demand.
In 2012, iPhone 5 was also sold out in less than 24 hours. But it received 2 million orders in the first 24 hours.
On 12th September, Apple loyal fans were refreshing their browsers frequently to make sure that they can place an order. But to most of their disappointed, for many, within minutes of commencement of the pre-orders Apple’s official website started showing “We’ll be back” message. It lasted for several hours.
Websites like eBay and some other retailers are bombarded with demands of iPhone 6. Some iPhone 6 seller’s auction page has reached $2000 while asking price has gone on to $6000 because of the demand.
With all this demand for their new iPhone 6 and the giant iPhone 6 Plus, we can only anticipate that this smartphone is already a hit even before hitting the market.
