Apple has just recovered from the Bendgate episode and now it is embroiled in hairgate controversy. Apple’s nemesis Samsung is also in the same boat with its very own Gapgate in its Galaxy Note 4.
Apple has the Bendgate behind it when it comes to flaws in manufacturing but it does not mean that its troubles are over. And the dust from the Bendgate scandal had scarcely settled down and we have the hairgate. It was first pointed out by Android fans but they soon got a taste of their own medicine when videos appeared of Galaxy Note and its Gapgate. Soon we have Android fans looking for cover as the social media erupted with double frenzy.
It may seem hilarious for some but for those who have been experiencing the problems, it could be anything but tedious. It is not that users are nitpicking the devices under a barrage of complaints. For a company like Apple which has set immaculate standards in the industry, it is not something which it can feel proud of.
Experts have dissected the semantic hair and concluded that the hairgate episode is being caused by an offending seam where the aluminum meets the glass and it is pulling the hairs of users who have long tresses. And so we now have the geeks on the web calling it hairgate.
A twitter user tweeted, “The seam on my iPhone 6 where the aluminum meets the glass is definitely catching my hair and pulling it out.” While 9to5mac.com confirmed the tweet is real. The hair of the user gets sticky at the same place where the twitter user has mentioned.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also facing somewhat similar ailment but it would not pull the hair of the unsuspecting user though. The gap in the body of the Galaxy Note 4 is enough to push through a paper where the phone meets in the middle. The main worry is that things like hair, lint, dust, or water could enter the phone and could compromise the phone – and even void out insurance plans
Samsung responded to the reports. A spokesperson from Samsung said, “The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards.”
