Even if it sounds old fashion, a guy loved by their girlfriends mother, may be a fundamental trick, and Valentines Day could be the day to show your consideration and surprise her with a bouquet of flowers.
New statistics, showed that 6 out of 10 young women, admitted that when thinking about getting serious with a guy the approval of their mother if extremely to very important.
For girls who have a very strong bond with their mothers, the one who makes the pick its their mother not them. Other stated, that when they tried to go against their parents will and dated the guy they disapproved off, things went very bad for everybody.
The percentage of women under 30 years old, who don’t take account of what their mother thinks of their love choices, proved to be only 6%, according to a tv pool by the Associated Press.
Four out of ten women, claimed they would consider dumping someone that their mothers didn’t like and 16% said that they have broken up with guys over that reason.
Boys don’t seem to be very affected by what their mother thinks of the woman they chose. Even so, half of the men with ages between 18 and 29 years old stated that the approval of their mother was very important when deciding to take the relationship to the next level.
But fathers have a thing to say as well. 50% of young women and 40% of men under 30, take into consideration what their fathers have to say when their relationship get serious. A dad’s opinion, weighs much more than the opinions of friends and siblings, showed the survey.
Some girls stated that the tactics used by their parents were very different. Their mothers would act very friendly and talkative while the fathers would sit back quiet and give their opinion later.
But dating someone your parents like, doesn’t necessarily mean, dating someone exactly like your parents. The myth that men are looking for copies of their mothers has been broken as it doesn’t really apply anymore. Over 50% of men and women, believed that dating someone who was the exact opposite of their parents would be more appropriate.
But parents can also hint their children about how they wished their future husband/wife to be like. A father from Clinton, Maryland, said that he told his four kids about his expectation years in a row, during dinner. He let them know about good values and how to judge a character, and this seems to have helped a lot his kids in choosing a partner. Three out of four of his children are married and he has five grandchildren.
