Pope Francis wants to have a saying in the 2015 climate conference , which will gather the nations of the world.
Since his arrival to leading the catholic church, pope Francis has proven that he is a man of many layers, and wants to express his power even when it comes to the climate.
He declared in various speeches and conferences, that for the year to come, his mission will be working on the severe climate changes that our planet is dealing with.
The United Nations climate conference, scheduled for 2015 in Paris, is a meeting which is meant to find solutions in order to stop global warming.
Pope Francis wishes to have a direct involvement in the meeting set for 2015, in Paris, as it will determine the future of the planet we are living on.
“The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion,” said Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences
He also believes, that if measures are not to be taken, the planet will witness never seen before climate changes which will lead to the destruction of the ecosystem. Humans will be highly affected by the consequences if we don’t act soon enough. According to Neil Thorn, head of advocacy at Cafod, Pope Francis’s involvement is unprecedented.
The pope’s mission, will not be an easy one, as there remain plenty of sceptics in the Vatican, when in comes to climate changes. Cardinal George Pell, would be one of them. He once stated that that “plants would love” if the atmosphere would double its quantity of carbon dioxide.
During an UN summit in Lima, Peru, the pope held a speech about the tragic impact climate change has on our planet. The nations present, agreed upon a making a draft document to be present in Paris next year, document which will contain the basis problems to start the talk with.
The catholic sovereign wrote a message to the Peruvian environmental minister, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, saying that the only way to save the planet is to work all together and agree on global solutions, as Earth is running out of time.
