A couple from Wisconsin decided to go and have once in a lifetime experience at a popular summer music festival called Summerfest. Instead, they are going to remember this time as a once in a lifetime cab fee. Keith and Audra Tubin took an Uber car for a 30-mile single ride and received a $900 bill.
Uber Was the Official Ridesharing Company for the Music Festival
Last week, a married couple resorted to Uber ride-hailing services to travel to a summer festival of music, Summerfest. The lineup was incredible for this event and so was supposed to be the experience of taking part. The headline of the lineup presented Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, Bob Dylan, Margo Price, Big Sean, and many other famous bands.
For the 50th edition of this summer concert series, Milwaukee chose Uber the official rideshare service. Therefore, the company was a trusted party to boost the enjoyment of participating in this event. However, things went astray when the Wisconsin couple summoned an Uber.
Keith and Audra Tubin recollected how they took their cab with two stops on their way to the music festival on Wednesday night. The driver accepted to take them at the desired addresses, yet avoided mentioning the increased fee for the night. It was only the next morning when the couple received a concerning notification on their smartphone regarding their bank account. Their balance had an $898 hole.
The Company Decided to Partially Refund the Couple for Their Exorbitant Single Ride Cab Fee
Tubin contacted Uber company immediately through e-mail. He wanted to question the validity of the extravagant bill. However, the reply assured him that the number was the right one. The couple experienced on their own skin the overrated scores that multiplied the price by 8.6 times during such a popular event as Summerfest.
The couple stated that they would have rather rent a limousine instead. Fortunately, Uber agreed to cover a partial refund for this trip. Therefore, the bill will remain of $214, which was the price for their drive to the festival without the additional stops along their way.
