A Wisconsin woman managed to stop a carjacker from stealing her vehicle by literally refusing to let go to her car. Melissa Smith was not going to let the thief leave the gas station with her car, so she jumped on top of the vehicle, pounding the windshield, and forcing the unidentified man to abandon his plan.
You Don’t Need Superpowers to be Wonder Woman
Melissa Smith managed to prove you don’t need superpowers to fight evil and prevent crime. On Wednesday, the Milwaukee resident stopped for gas at a local gas station. She was finishing up pumping fuel into her white SUV when an African American man jumped behind the wheel of her car, starting the engine, and trying to leave the station.
Smith’s reaction threw him off as much as all the others witnesses to the would-be crime. Instead of calling the police or asking for help, the woman took matters into her own hands and, as soon as she realized what was going on, jumped on top of the hood of the car, pounding on the windshield, screaming at the carjacker.
The Thief Was Laughing in Contempt, But Smith Had the Last Laugh
Wisconsin’s own Wonder Woman’s quick wit probably saved her vehicle and her car as, when the car started moving, she rapidly realized that by holding on to the door, she had high chances of ending up under the wheels. Therefore, she jumped on the hood.
As she was screaming at the thief, he was laughing in contempt, turning on the whippers and stopping the car suddenly so that Smith would fall off. Nevertheless, the woman held on to dear life, and the thief saw no option that to abandon the car and jump into his accomplice’s vehicle. Then, Smith masterfully climbed down from the hood of her SUV and jumped in to stop the vehicle from entering ongoing traffic.
Smith is now safe and proud of her accomplishment. During an interview with CNN, she admitted being “a bit crazy” and that she “can’t tolerate that sort of behavior.” If more people follow Smith’s example and stand against their aggressors, maybe thieves would think twice before trying to steal from what they believe are helpless women. Here’s to Wisconsin’s own Wonder Woman.
