Forget Mr. Right as Mr. OK is more available and easier to find. Study has shown that the search for the right person could be useless, and settling for a convenient fit might be more healthy for the future of our romantic life.
Dreaming about the right person that would sweep us of our feet, might be something that is wasting out time and hopes.
A new research claims that waiting for prince charming or for the right woman might be a complete waste of our time as evolution has shown us that we are more willing to settling for a convenient match rather than wait the perfect one. The research has observed the first human civilisations and discovered that the security provided by breeding with a compatible person, has always been more important than searching for the one who would fulfil all our expectations.
Primitive humans, tended to be forced to bet on whether they could find a better fit or not, stated co-author of the study, professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at the Michigan State University,Chris Adami.
Back then, humans didn’t have many choices, and had two options. They would either choose to pick the first potential inferior individual and have “inferior” children or keep on waiting for Mister or Miss Perfect to come knocking at their door. If their choice would have been to wait, they risked never to mate and to remain single, explained professor Adami. While most of the individuals would tend to wait for the dream match, they were in danger of not finding a mate leading not to procreate and to having children. When living in small groups, settling early for the fit that seemed a sure match was putting individuals an evolutionary advantage position.
Researchers discovered that what mattered was the size of the group, not the total size of the population, when it comes to the evolution of aversion, stated associated researcher Arend Hintze from the Michigan State University.
Not all individuals will develop similar levels of skills in avoiding risk, as not all of us evolve in the same manner. Evolution created diversity in the acknowledgment of risk, and this causes the existence of people who are more courageous to take bigger risks than others are.
