Lei Jun, the Xiaomi company’s chief executive disclosed in December of last year the company’s intention to launch a state of the art device in January 2015. Today, he announced the announced the arrival of the new gadget – a Mi series smartphone, called Mi Note.
The device weights 162 grams and is less than 7 mm thick. The Mi Note phone features a powerful processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, of 3Gb of RAM, and a storage space of 16 to 32 Gb. The battery, a new 3,000Ah , is promised to last longer.
The company put a lot of efforts in facilitating the best display. The brand new phone has a 2.5D curved glass display of 5.7 inches that functions at a resolution of 1920×1080, having a contrast ratio of 1400:1. The Mi Note has an innovative contrast pixel balancing technology that has the ability to self-adjust the contrast of so that pictures are displayed at their best quality. Also, the phone has incorporated a 13mp camera that features optical image stabilization technology. The camera in the front has 4mp and has a big 2um sensor.
The price for a 16Gb Mi Note is at about $371, while the 32Gb version is priced at approximately $451. The new Xiaomi Mi Note smartphone is due to be available on the market in March.
Along with the Mi Note, the company also announced the improved Mi Note Pro. This is slightly more powerful device, as it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, running on 4Gb of RAM and has a 64Gb storage unit. It will have the same-sized display, of 5.7 inches, but with an improved pixel resolution of 256ox1400. This device is supposed to be available at the end of March.
But this is not all, besides these devices, the Xiaomi CEO announced the new accessories featured by the two smartphones. These include over the year ultra-efficient headphones and a Mi Box Mini media player.
Taking into consideration user’s demands, Xiaomi launched an extended warranty program for about $32 per year. This warranty provides cover for a variety of damages: water damage, or damage of the front glass or the rear of the phone, to name a few.
2014 was a very profitable year for the Chinese company and 2015 is expected to be even better. In the course of this year, Xiaomi intends to ship out about 100 million devices, which is an addition of about 40 million devices from last year. The innovative, but very affordable smartphone is said to become a strong competitor to the IPhone 6.
